Good Evening Families of Room 231! With not having school on Monday, I feel a day behind! Tomorrow is ALREADY Thursday. Geesh! This week we've continued working on perimeter with decomposing, reading and writing numbers, and adding. Tomorrow I'll see if I can switch them over to subtraction in a problem-solving format. I'm anxious to see if any kids take what they already know from addition decomposing, and apply it to subtraction.
In Language Arts we're working on two very important words: Inferring and Monitoring. We're working on inferring in fiction and monitoring in fiction and in nonfiction. I sent home our first spelling words for the year. The list of 15 words will be tested on Friday. In Writing we're in the beginning stages of complete sentences, paragraph form.... also writing for QUALITY not QUANTITY!
In Social Studies we're studying the branches of government. We did a SmartBoard activity and have learning the importance of each branch.
We set September reading goals on Wednesday. Almost all of them have come back signed. Yeah! Each child reads differently, so each goal is different. Remember to encourage 'good fit' books when reading at home. Continue working on Math Matters. They have the opportunity to be tested EACH MORNING!
Have a wonderful rest of the week!
