The very first fabulous fourth grader from room 231 is such a kind person. He is quiet and well-mannered. He gets his work complete, and has been very good at returning all communications to and from school. He is a bat boy for the Clinton Lumberkings, and very much enjoys it. They are lucky to have him! I'm anxious to watch Quentin (Q) Mangelsen grow in my classroom community!
Hello Families! Be sure to check under the tabs of this website often. Today I added some pictures of our ELA lesson.
This might sound very funny, but.... our classroom can be COLD. Feel free to send a sweatshirt with your child, as it does get chilly in here. They can just keep it in their locker. Again, that sounds crazy to say with temperatures in the 90's. :) I've started a ticket system with the class. On Fridays, the students will be able to 'purchase' items with their tickets. When necessary, I have been taking tickets away as well. The kids have been doing a terrific job getting their planners signed. We'll begin goal setting for Language Arts next week. Thanks for your continued support! Families of 231- I can't believe I'm blogging to say that the first week is over. The week went by so quickly, without major hiccups. Today, the students had a demonstration from our district orchestra leader. There is a flyer coming home about it tonight. The first book order is coming home tonight as well, and I'm asking they are brought back, or ordered online by next Thursday. I'll be posting a couple of math videos from today under the 'Math' tab... I'm extremely impressed with their thinking ALREADY! On the second day of school we made cards that represent things that make us happy. Yesterday I created a tower of happiness for all Eagle Heights to see! :) What an awesome way to start off the year! The sun was shining, it wasn't too hot (yet), and we had some fun getting to know each other. I feel like the day went by so quickly! We did many activities that centered around building community within our classroom. The emphasis being that we are a school family, and although we may not always get along with one another, be each other's best friends, we will always respect our peers. The team building activity below was much more challenging than it looks. Each team had 6 strands of spaghetti, one large marshmallow, a yard of tape, and a yard of string. Their task was to see which group could build the tallest tower (with the marshmallow on top) in 18 minutes. The winning team's tower was 17" tall! See you tomorrow 4th graders! |
